COVID-19 Red Update

COVID-19 Protection (Traffic Light) Framework Update

Our team here at Kindred Family Services has continued to support people and whānau during the months of COVID lockdown, and we will continue to do so as we enter the new Traffic Light Framework.

The way we work under the Red alert, looks very similar to how we have worked under the recent Level 3 restrictions.

  • Our main centre in Commercial Road, Helensville will be closed with our staff working from home.

  • Counselling support is available with consultations carried out on the phone or online.

  • Our other services, including Family Support, Strengthening Families and Support Groups will continue online.

  • There will be times when, under particular circumstances, we are able to provide kanohi ki te kanohi (face to face) support. We’ll do this using masks and social distancing and make sure everyone is safe.

  • If you require any of those services listed above, please call 09 420 7992 or email info@kindredservices.org.nz. But be aware, those services will be taking a break over summer (17 December - 17 January) so our team can take a well-deserved rest.

  • Our family harm and women’s refuge team won’t be taking a break. They’ll continue to be available to support those living with or experiencing family violence and our Women’s Refuge Line is available 24/7 via call or text – 021 842 917.

As a social service provider, we won't be asking our clients for proof of vaccination, however we will be supporting our counsellors and client-facing staff who may have their own preference about how they see people who may not be vaccinated, perhaps by offering phone or online sessions instead.

We will look to reopen our Kindred Centre anytime from 17 January once we enter Orange under the new Covid-19 Protection Framework. Quite what that looks like for the way we see clients will be decided after considering the government guidelines and the community conditions at the time.

What we can promise is that we’ll continue to do our very best to support and care for anyone who needs us using the resources available to us.

We will do that in a way that shows care and protection for our valued team and the community in which we work and many of us also live.

Remember, one day at a time. You are not alone, so reach out if you need us.
