Parenting Adolescents

We are excited to be offering ‘Parenting Adolescents’, a FREE 5-week course focused on providing parents with tools and strategies to improve their relationship with their teenager.

The group has a strong focus on understanding teenage development, communication strategies to apply and ones to avoid, listening and validation skills, how to set boundaries, and navigating conflict.

Learning includes information, group discussion and activities, videos, practice opportunities, and sharing and exchanging ideas. The foundations of this group come from the worldwide and heavily research-based Incredible Years Parenting Programme.

Parenting Adolescents will also canvas specific topics such as pornography, social media, sex, risky behaviour, self-harm, suicidality, anxiety, depression, and general mental health and wellbeing. These topics are given an introduction including statistics, information for parents to be aware of, how to have conversations about these topics with your teenager, and further resources and supports.

In this group you will explore and discuss in depth:

- Teenage brain development

- Parent/teen relationship

- Boundaries & consequences

- Commuinication & problem solving

- Mental health & risky behavior

- Parent self-care
